Membership Requirements:

The Virginia Society of Anesthesiologists is a component of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Anesthesiologists who practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia are required by ASA Bylaws to be members in good standing of the VSA. Membership Applications for VSA are the same as for ASA and may be submitted (.pdf form) to the address below:

Member Categories

Active
A licensed physician (as evidenced by a written license to practice medicine in the location of principal professional activity) who practices principally within the jurisdiction of this Society and who is not a physician in another component society.
Annual dues $350*

Affiliate
A physician who is in the service of the United States Government including the Veterans Administration; or a physician who is not engaged in the clinical practice of anesthesiology; or a scientist, not a physician, who is interested in, and contributes to, the advancement and progress of anesthesiology research.
Annual dues $50*

Resident
A physician in full-time training in anesthesiology in a program accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association. No Resident member may remain in this classification for more than a total of four years.
Annual dues No Fee

Honorary
A physician or other scientist who has attained exceptional eminence in anesthesiology or related fields and has made significant contributions to anesthesiology.
Annual dues No Fee

Retired
A Doctor of Medicine or Bachelor of Medicine who has been an Active member of this Society for ten or more years and has retired completely from professional activity.
Annual dues No Fee

* VSA Member dues are not included in your annual ASA member dues.

Membership Approval Process

All applications for membership with the VSA must be approved by the Society Secretary, Dr. Robert Kravetz. Once your completed application is received by the VSA administrative office, please allow approximately 2 weeks for processing and confirmation of your membership.
